!!!HELLISH BLACK 'N ROLL FROM GERMANY!!!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Hey this is Evan (The Cultist) and Rodney (The Tormentor) from Bloodfang
Tell us a few things about BLOODFANG (Members, Starting Year etc).
Evan "The Cultist": Bloodfang started as an idea in 2023 between Niko (Hellhound) and me. We wanted to bring the oldschool rock'n'roll energy into more raw music. We started writing the first songs together and we picked up the rest of the band members from time to time.
You have recently released your singles ''Hail The Cult'' and ''Acid Rot''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Evan "The Cultist": So far most of the feedback has been positive. I've even noticed a bunch of people starting to sing along to "Hail the Cult" on our shows.
Rodney "The Tormentor": Especially after our newest release Acid Rot, we started receiving a lot of positive messages from around the world. We can't wait to release the full EP in the beginning of next year!
Label or DIY and why?
Evan "The Cultist": So far we thrive trough DIY. We are open to work with a label in the future though, if it fits to our vision.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
Evan "The Cultist": Once we played a show, and a guy randomly stormed the Moshpit with a Torch. That shit was wild. But I loved every bit of it.
Rodney "The Tormentor": During my bass recordings our guitar player Niko (The Hellhound), kept falling asleep.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Rodney "The Tormentor": I like Vinyl, but classic tapes are a good way to spread your music, cause they fit into every pocket.
Evan "The Cultist": I prefer Vinyl. Nothing more satisfying to unpack a new vinyl and place it onto the record player.
Your music style is Black MetalPunk. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Evan "The Cultist": Venom, Motorhead, Midnight, Cruel Force and maybe a hint of early Motley Crue.
Rodney "The Tormentor": To add to the list, my brother Evan and I are also big fans of Black Uniforms, Discharge and Bathory.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
Evan "The Cultist": Hard take, but "Elitism". There's so many rules in metal, telling you how to act, how to write your music etc. Just be who you are, and make the music you want to. Success is objective after all. If you feel good doing what you like to do, you're already successful.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Rodney "The Tormentor": For me it's important that the crowd is engaged. We always try to keep them hooked with our performance during our shows. We played some amazing shows already, with people climbing and jumping off the stage and bringing pure mayhem to the concerts.
Evan "The Cultist": We also always try to bring a lot of energy to the stage. In the end it should be fun for both us and the crowd.
What attributes do you think that a new Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Evan "The Cultist": I think presence is really important. Also picking topics to your likings can help a lot, growing as a band and making the band more interesting.
Rodney "The Tormentor": Be over the top.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Evan "The Cultist": Of course. I hate to say it, but the world nowadays is obsessed with social media. If you're not present, you have no chance unfortunately. You need to show the world you're there. Post pictures, videos etc.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Berlin (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Evan "The Cultist": I'm happy to say that there's many newcoming bands in Berlin at the moment. Also the DIY scene is making a big comeback, with more shows, more festivals and more metal parties than ever.
Rodney "The Tormentor": There's plenty of cool new bookers that organize underground shows. These make the scene more accessible.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Evan "The Cultist": I haven't experienced it for myself yet, though I heard lots of good things about it. People supporting bands, having a blast, going wild. Also there's lots of good black thrash/ speed metal bands from Greece I might add.
In the last 4 years, worldwide in the world, we have faced many dark, strange, and new situations in our everyday lives (covid, lockdown, etc.). Did all of this affect you positively or negatively?
Rodney "The Tormentor": I think it was a hard time for everyone, you can still feel the impact of these times. Our old band broke down during that time, so I used the time to improve my musical skills and to come up with new ideas.
What are your future plans?
Rodney "The Tormentor": We wanna keep on improving our live performances, with different show elements that we already have ideas for.
Evan "The Cultist": This. And we are also working on our first album and some merchandise at the moment.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you for having us! For the closure we'd like to shoutout some bands from Berlin: Campa, Idle Ruin, Exa and Speedwhore.
