Tell us a few things about DEIMLER (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hello, it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to appear on the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL webzine, we are very grateful. I am Pako Deimler, main composer of DEIMLER and sole original member.Well, I will tell you a bit, DEIMLER has existed since 1998, we were active approximately until 2002, when the band stopped due to different circumstances, we do not have any good quality recording from that time, we gave many concerts in our area, and it was a good time, but everything stayed there. In 2008 I decided to resuscitate DEIMLER, I looked for new members and we immediately started working very hard, “Zero One” is the result of that great effort, this will be our first album in CD format, it is an Ep of 5 songs, it will be released shortly Through the Chinese Awakening Records label, we hope that this will come true very soon.
Hola, es un placer tener la ocasión de aparecer en el webzine FILTHY DOGS OF METAL, estamos muy agradecidos. Soy Pako Deimler, principal compositor de DEIMLER y único miembro original.Bien, te cuento un poco, DEIMLER existe desde 1998, estuvimos activos aproximadamente hasta 2002, fecha en que la banda quedó parada por distintas circunstancias, no tenemos ninguna grabación de buena calidad de esa época, dimos bastantes conciertos por nuestra zona, y fue una buena época, pero todo se quedo ahí. En 2008 decidí resucitar DEIMLER, busqué nuevos miembros y nos pusimos enseguida a trabajar muy duro, “Zero One” es el resultado de ese gran esfuerzo, este será nuestro primer trabajo en formato CD, es un Ep de 5 canciones, saldrá en breve a través del sello Chino Awakening Records, esperamos eso se haga realialidad muy pronto.
You have recently released your new EP ''Zero One''. What is the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?
Well the truth is that it is having a very good response, and that we only have a single with a song published, “Your Coffin”, people and the media are really enjoying it, the general reaction is very positive, we are very happy.
Pues la verdad es que está teniendo una respuesta muy buena, y eso que solo tenemos un single con una canción publicado, “Your Coffin”, a la gente y los medios de prensa les está gustando mucho, la reacción general es muy positiva, estamos muy contentos.
How did your cooperation with Awakening Records occur? What do you prefer, Label or DIY and why?
Well, the Chinese label Awakening Records contacted us through a well-known social network, which I will not mention here, ha ha ha, curiously we contacted hundreds of labels, but not Awakening, they looked for us To us, we speak cordially and reach a fair agreement for both parties and there we are, waiting for the bloody pandemic, to let us see our work in physical format very soon. A record label is always preferable, as long as the deal is fair to both parties, normally in this world of underground music the bands that do the worst are these bands, in addition to having to do all the hard work, the labels almost always , not to say always, they play with advantage.
Pues el sello chino Awakening Records se puso en contacto con nosotros a través de una red social muy conocida, que no voy a mencionar aquí, ja ja ja, curiosamente nos pusimos en contacto con cientos de sellos, pero no con Awakening, ellos nos buscaron a nosotros, hablamos cordialmente y llegamos a un acuerdo justo para ambas partes y ahí estamos, a la espera de que está maldita pandemia, nos deje ver nuestro trabajo en formato físico muy pronto. Siempre es preferible un sello discográfico, siempre y cuando el trato sea justo para ambas partes, normalmente en este mundo de música underground el que peor sale en estos tratos son las bandas, ademas de tener que hacer todo el trabajo duro, los sellos casi siempre, por no decir siempre, juegan con ventaja.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
The format that most attracts me is vinyl, in fact we wanted to release this Ep on vinyl, but the label does not want to risk it and prefers to see how sales are going before in CD format. Tapes are also a joy, especially due to nostalgia, but let's be honest the most practical thing is the CD or even the digital download format, nowadays we live glued to the screen of a mobile, and this format is the most versatile, but I hate it ha ha ha, I keep the vinyl of all.
El formato que más me atrae es el vinilo, de hecho quisimos sacar este Ep en vinilo, pero el sello no quiere arriesgar y prefiere ver como van las ventas antes en formato Cd. Las tapes también son una gozada, sobre todo por la nostalgia, pero seamos sinceros lo más práctico es el CD o incluso el formato descarga digital, hoy día vivimos pegados a la pantalla de un móvil, y este formato es el más versátil, pero yo lo odio ja ja ja, me quedo con el vinilo de todas.
Your music style is Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Yes indeed, DEIMLER is Death Metal Old School, or at least we tried ha ha ha, my favorite band is DISMEMBER / CARNAGE, along with GRAVE and the old ENTOMBED, so you can get an idea of where the shots are going in DEIMLER , I also really like the Finnish side of Death Metal, DEMILICH, ADRAMELECH, CARTILAGE, FUNEBRE, these influences are also very present in DEIMLER. I do not want to leave 2 very important bands, AVULSED and NECROPHILIAC, in the pipeline, their influences are always present.
Sí efectivamente, DEIMLER es Death Metal Old School, o al menos lo intentamos ja ja ja, mi banda favorita es DISMEMBER/CARNAGE, junto a GRAVE y los viejos ENTOMBED, así que te puedes hacer una idea de por donde van los tiros en DEIMLER, también me gusta mucho la vertiente finlandesa de Death Metal, DEMILICH, ADRAMELECH, CARTILAGE, FUNEBRE, estas influencia también están muy presentes en DEIMLER. No quiero dejar en el tintero a 2 bandas muy importantes para mí, AVULSED y NECROPHILIAC, sus influencias siempre está presentes.
Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
Being successful today is quite complicated, we live in a very globalized world, that can be good in some aspects but not in others, the scene is very saturated with bands, it is very difficult to find a place and that people can Hearing, and being able to reach people, I would not know how to tell you that you should sacrifice in order to be successful, I think the main thing is to believe in yourself and your music, do what you like, do your best and try to be as professional as possible. than is in your hand, I would not know what else to tell you.Unfortunately I have sacrificed too many times too many things for the future of my band or some of them and in the end I have not achieved anything, you see yourself, you see that few people keep up with you and that more than help in a band as permanent members they They come back a drag and they don't let the band advance, unfortunately I have been in underground music for too many years and it's always the same, most of the amateur musicians give you their word and then they don't compromise, it's the problem of living in a place as isolated and as lacking in professional musicians as Cáceres is, but I do not give up, I keep on going again and again, I fall and get back on my feet, and we are now once again friend.
Lo de tener éxito hoy en día es bastante complicado, vivimos en un mundo muy globalizado, eso puede ser bueno en algunos aspectos pero en otros no, la escena está muy saturada de bandas, es muy difícil encontrar un hueco y que la gente te pueda oír, y poder llegar a la gente, no sabría decirte que deberías sacrificar para poder tener éxito, creo que lo principal es creer en ti mismo y en tu música, hacer lo que te gusta, hacerlo lo mejor posible e intentar ser todo lo profesional que esté en tu mano, no sabría que otra cosa decirte.Por desgracia he sacrificado demasiadas veces demasiadas cosas por el futuro de mi banda o alguna de ellas y al final no he conseguido nada, te ves solo, ves que poca gente te sigue el ritmo y que mas que ayudar en una banda como miembros permanentes se vuelven un lastre y no dejan avanzar a la banda, por desgracia llevo demasiados años en este de la música underground y siempre es lo mismo, la mayoría de los músicos amateur te dan su palabra y luego no se comprometen, es el problema de vivir en un sitio tan aislado y tan falto de músicos profesionales como es Cáceres, pero yo no me rindo, sigo adelante una y otra vez, me caigo y me vuelvo a poner en pie, y en eso estamos ahora una vez más amigo.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
For me an ideal show would be to be able to share the stage with my favorite bands, I would be able to spend eternity like this ha ha ha.If I have had enough live experiences, for me it is one of the most beautiful sensations of this life, playing live gives you life, charges your batteries, makes you be different, it is another world.
Para mí un show ideal sería poder compartir escenario con mis bandas favoritas, sería capaz de pasar la eternidad así ja ja ja.Si he tenido bastantes experiencias en vivo, para mí es una de las sensaciones más hermosas de esta vida, el tocar en directo te da la vida, te carga las pilas, te hace ser diferente, es otro mundo.
Which attributes, do you think, that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
I think I have already answered this question before, believe in yourself, first, believe in your music, do what you like, be as professional as possible within your reach, and above all enjoy what you are doing, that's very important, if you play in a band and you don't have fun, you better change your trade.
Creo que ya he respondido ha esta pregunta antes, cree en ti mismo, lo primero, cree en tu música, haz lo que te gusta, se todo lo profesional posible que esté a tu alcance, y sobre todo disfruta con lo que estas haciendo, eso es muy importante, si tocas en una banda y no te diviertes, mejor que cambies de oficio.
Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yes, I think that digital platforms are very useful tools when it comes to moving your music, it is a fantastic thing, although I hate the digital format with all my desire ha ha ha, you have to be honest and recognize that it is something very useful when reaching people, especially when you don't have the support of a decent label or someone who knows how to help you.
Si, creo que las plataformas digitales son herramientas muy útiles a la hora de mover tu música, es algo fantástico, aunque odie el formato digital con todas mis ganas ja ja ja, hay que ser honesto y reconocer que es algo muy útil a la hora de llegar a la gente, sobre todo cuando no tienes el apoyo de un sello decente o de alguien que sepa como ayudarte.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Spain (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The truth is that lately everything is very stopped, I personally live in a very isolated area in that regard, and I can help you very little, the scene is good, it is strong and consolidated, at the national level, there are good bands, veterans and Novels, good rooms and clubs, fanzines and very interesting webzines, but that is in the big cities, basically, in Cácerés we hardly have a bar where they play Heavy Metal, we are 85,000 inhabitants, but it is disgusting in terms of Metal scene ha ha ha, in this bar I sometimes play a DJ and we have a good time, I take this opportunity to greet the people of the Bar Dio de Cáceres, but this bar is very small, you cannot do concerts of large capacity, and the neighbors complain too much and too soon ha ha ha.
La verdad es que últimamente está todo muy parado, yo personalmente vivo en una zona muy asilada en ese aspecto, y te puedo ayudar muy poco, la escena está bien, es fuerte y está consolidada, a nivel nacional, hay buenas bandas, veteranas y noveles, buenas salas y clubes, fanzines y webzines muy interesantes, pero eso es en las grandes ciudades, básicamente, en Cácerés apenas tenemos un bar donde ponen Heavy Metal, somos 85000 habitantes, pero es un asco en cuanto a escena de Metal ja ja ja, en este bar a veces hago de Dj y nos lo pasamos bien, aprovecho para saludar a la gente del Bar Dio de Cáceres, pero este bar es muy pequeñito, no se pueden hacer conciertos de gran aforo, y los vecinos se quejan demasiado y demasiado pronto ja ja ja.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
The truth is that I do not know much about the Hellenic Metal Scene, and you will excuse me for it, I know the typical big bands ROTTING CHRIST or SEPTICFLESH, and there are some underground bands like VULTUR, BIO-CANCER, PLAGUE or SOULSKINNER, but if I am honest I do not know much more. But believe me if I tell you that I would like it very much, can you advise me any more?
La verdad es que no conozco mucho sobre la Hellenic Metal Scene, y me vas a disculpar por ello, conozco a las típicas bandas grandes ROTTING CHRIST o SEPTICFLESH, y ha alguna de underground como VULTUR, BIO-CANCER, PLAGUE o SOULSKINNER, pero si te soy sincero no conozco mucho más. Pero creeme si te digo que me gustaría mucho, ¿Tu puedes aconsejarme alguna más?
What are your future plans?
I am working very hard on new songs, for a next full album, there will be 9 new songs, 8 songs of my own and a cover version, let's see if we can bring DEIMLER to live again after 18 years, and keep working hard, no more.
