Tell us a few things about EVIL MACHINES (Members, Starting Year etc).
Well, it’s a great honor to us to be here. Thank you very much for the opportunity. Evil Machines has started in 2016 and we were 4 members: Zilson Costa(guitar and lead vocals), Nilson Filho (Drums), Chrystian “Steel Pirate” (bass and vocals) and Enzo Sousa(guitar). We released the EP ''Dirty War'', our first work as Evil Machines. In 2017, Enzo left the band and we released the album ''Evil Machines''. In 2018, the new guitar player, Jeferson Nogueira, came as a great news for the band and we released our second Studio album, ''Killer Machine''.
Your last work was the album ''Killer Machine''. Have you prepared anything new since then?
In fact, we are trying to release one work at year. And in 2019, we released a new work, a split with our friends from a band called Leopard Machine. New songs, 3 from each band and it was good.
Label or DIY and why?
It depends. I think the label can take you from other audiences. But the independent gives you some freedom to create. If we can make a little bit of each...hahahaah.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We prefer Vinyl. It’s a really beautiful format. Someday, we’ll make a work on this format. But at the moment, we make CDs and digital format to catch up more audience for our music. And our work had a good reception on Japan, as our ''Killer Machine'' CD is sold out. Truly amazing!!!
Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Yes, we have as influences Just the classic metal bands. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Motorhead are the Holy monsters of Heavy Metal for us. I think that’s a path to follow.
Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed?
I think the band have to be Professional. This is something to all of the artists.if you can grow up, you need to act as a Professional. And sacrifice, I think that is no sacrifice IF you are making something that you Love.
Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
I don’t think so.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
Yes, we had some really good experiences as band in live shows. To make it perfect, we need a good sound, a good stage, enough money and, the most important, a good audience. And in some live performances, we had all of this and that was beautiful.
Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Heavy Metal is a difficult style, cause is difficult to be unique. But I think If you make your work as a truth your own truth, someday you Will find your own way. We are trying to do this.
Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yes, we like Bandcamp and the digital platforms. We are on a lot of them. I think a band need a good manager to promote its work and to be in massive form on the social media.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Well, here in Brazil the metal scene on the underground have a lot of bands and a good community of fans. Here in our city and in our state, we could see a good reception from the audiences and this is good. But the massive audience is really for the great bands in Brazil.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We are discovering about it right now.
What are your future plans?
Keep producing and making our music. We have new songs for the new album, but the pandemic forced us to isolate, perhaps we can go back to the Studio this year . That's it.
