Interview with HIGH CASTLE

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about HIGH CASTLE (Members, Starting Year etc).
Greetings! We have had a completed line up since around march/April of this year. We are still a very new band.

You have recently released your demo ''Endless Fight!!''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
It seemed to be well received by headbangers local to Phoenix, Arizona. This is the only other press we’ve had. Time will have to tell….

Label or DIY and why?
We are a DIY band. We would love to collaborate with labels at some point in the future.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
Our engineer, Elad, was just about ready to fight Nites during his vocal takes. It was a long day.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Individually, we all have our reason for preferred format. Regardless what it is, we just like physical media.

Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our music preferences are fairly varied as well. Mcallister is a punk guy, Nites plays in War Metal bands. We pull from all styles of extreme and traditional metal when writing our music.

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
It’s a labor of love. If you feel you’re “sacrificing” maybe look into more fulfilling hobbies.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Everyone is having a good time and there’s a decent turnout. We only had one show and it has met those criteria.

What attributes do you think that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Passion for underground music, drive, quality songwriting that is felt.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Whatever gets music to listeners is the correct way.

Do you see any differences between the US Metal Market & the EU Metal Market (Labels, Bands, Fans etc)?
Too early to tell for us. All I know that Europe treats heavy metal nicer than America does.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Phoenix, Arizona (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The Phoenix underground is always growing and new bands are forming constantly. It’s exciting to be a part of this scene!"Guffsnore" on YouTube documents many live performances of bands from Phoenix. Check out his page and see all the filthy metal/ punx from AZ!!"

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We like bands like Thou Art Lord, Spitfire, Goat Vomit, Necromantia so on and so forth.

The last 4 years, worldwide in the world, we have faced many dark, strange & new situations in our everyday life (covid, lock-down etc.) Did all of this affect you positively or negatively?
It affected us and will leave it at that.

What are your future plans?
More of the same. Write record play party.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
The honor is ours we appreciate the support from the zine, Greece, and any who has listened. Keep in touch. Hailz High Castle!! Hailz New Wave of Phoenix Heavy Metal!! Eternally, HIGH CASTLE.
