!!!HEAVY METAL FROM THE USA!!!
We had a conversation with Chris (Guitars). Enjoy!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about IMMORTAL BLADE (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hey, my name is Chris and I play guitar for Immortal Blade. We started in January 2022 when I put an advert out on Reddit looking for Heavy Metal musicians to start a remote band. Taylor (Drummer) & Josh (Vocalist) then got in touch with me and we hit it off immediately. Since we all live in different states in the United States, we shared ideas via Google Drive until we got 5 songs together and recorded our parts in our own studios. Also, Jacob from the Hardcore band Bitter End jumped on this EP project mid-way through recording to do some guest guitar leads on the songs.
You have recently released your EP ''Regicide''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
It’s been awesome so far! Thanks to everyone who has bought the EP on our Bandcamp and streamed our songs on the platform of their choice!
Label or DIY and why?
DIY when you’re starting out and building your sound. Label when you’re ready to take it to the next level.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Vinyl. There’s just something special about having music on wax!
Your music style is Heavy/Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Wayyy too many to list, but if I had to pick 3, it’d be Black Sabbath, Power Trip and Slayer.
Which things do you think a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your Band?
For Immortal Blade, it’s purely a musical outlet so none of us have felt the need to sacrifice anything. In my opinion, the music should speak for itself.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
We haven’t thought about live shows yet because we all live so far away from each other. However, I would want a combination of stage dives, headbangers and hardcore dancing - Crossover style baby!
Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy/Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Good riffs, good tones and good beats.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Heavy/Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Digital platforms are a great way of getting in touch with people all over the world - like yourselves! Right now, I’d say Instagram seems to be most relevant when it comes to socials.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in the USA (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
It’s thriving all over the USA. Philadelphia has a great scene from my own experience. I’m sure Taylor & Josh would say the same for Seattle & Atlanta. Death Metal has been making a solid comeback in the United States with a new wave including Gatecreeper & Blood Incantation.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
I’ve unfortunately not heard much from the Hellenic Metal Scene yet, but I’ve been told that Greece is one of the best countries to tour for Heavy Metal!
What are your future plans?
We haven’t got any immediate plans yet when it comes to recording more music as we’re currently looking to get our EP on a physical format. I’m sure we’ll be putting together some new musical ideas before the year ends though - I’m feeling like doing something epic for the next release.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thanks again to anyone who has taken the time to listen to our music! You guys are awesome!
