!!!GERMAN THRASH METAL ATTACK!!!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about INSOMNIAK (Members, Starting Year etc) -
Jannik (Guitar/Vox) and Marc (Drums) got to meet each other in early 2020, a few weeks before the virus made its way around the globe and started to write songs during the first lockdown. The first rehearsals were fulled by many bottles of beer and the love for fast and aggressive music. Shortly after that Matthias (Bass/Vox) joined us.
You have recently released your demo ''Insomniak''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
It's hard to say. There really is no feedback from the press because we couldn't promote our music well during the last year. But the feedback we got from all the local metal maniax was pretty exciting. And the fact that you guys asked us to do an interview right after we released our first demo seems also really cool!
Label or DIY and why?
For our recent release it's definitely DIY. But for future releases we would like to cooperate with a label that really fits to us because (in best case) they do all the promo.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
It really depends on the music you're about to consume. But we like all of these formats and hope to put out releases on all of them.
Your music style is Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
When it comes to main influences for Insomniak its definitely early Sepultura, Power Trip and Slayer to name a few. But there are so many influences and its impossible to name them all 'cause there are so many great artists out there.
Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band ?
Ha! Easy one! You really need to accept the fact that you have to sacrifice your money, time and your patience!
Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
The ideal live show would be playing infront of a big crowd consisting of beer fueled- headbanging metal maniax. No, we haven't experienced that.
Which attributes, do you think, that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
We think it's all about nasty riffs, pounding drums and cool vocals. Being authentic is also a good thing! That's everything we think a band should have.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yes, we really believe it helps a band because nowadays you can discover and listen to anything without really paying for it. We all know how it's like when you haven't enough money for the new record of your favourite band. Streaming it on online platforms isn't a bad thing but the best way to promote music is still playing live and getting in touch which all the people.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Germany (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
There really is alot going on over here! The scene is really connected and there are many great band's, such as Space Chase from Berlin or Pripjat from Cologne. So many bands that sometimes it feels like there are way too many metal bands out here!
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene ?
No, we really don't know anything about the scene over there. Only thing we can say is that Marc once supported two bands from Athens (Rapture and Violent Definition) with his old band.
What are your future plans?
Playing live as much as we can, writing and recording music, get on a label and kick ass!!
Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you guys for showing a little interest in us by doing this interview. To us, this means alot! We hope to get to know the Hellenic metal scene in the near future! Maniacs out. Insomiak killz!!
