!!!THRASH METAL FROM ITALY!!!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about KRYTIOS (Members, Starting Year etc).
Krytios is a Thrash Metal band from Massafra, District of Taranto in Apulia (Italy). They formed in 2023 due the friendship between two brothers, Alessandro Tannoia (Bass Guitar) Vito Tannoia (Drums) and their neighbor Nicola Renna (Lead Guitar). After one year they found the singer and Rhythm Guitar Daniele Guerriero (aka "Kage") who was also likely to be their neighbor.
You have recently released your single ''Korova''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Strangely, to an underground band the song was appreciated a lot from the audiences and also from the presses, probably due to the topics and groove about the song.
Label or DIY and why?
We started as a DIY band to quickly publish our first releases worldwide; probably we’ll search for a label to improve our popularity.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
There are a lot of funny stories about Krytios: first of all the funniest during the recording sessions of our EP “Walk ‘till the End”, our lead guitar Nicola (aka “Thepsynick”) used to fuck his pillow when we were recording our tracks (we know it’s really strange!). We can also talk about the first great metal show we played (Rock Metal Fest in Pulsano) where the stage back courtain fell off on our drummer during the performance and he still kept playing with a lot of badassery and people got it on cameras (Great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLKPhMGZhdU min 1:25)
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We all love physical supports for listening to music (vinyl, tapes, etc...) but obviously streaming and digital downloads are much more comfortable to use especially nowadays, due to the expensive cost for physical supports.
Your music style is Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Kreator, Dark Angel, Exodus, Violator, Sepultura, Slayer, Demolition Hammer, Sud Disorder, Zakalicous, Awaken The Night, Colonnelli, Lucio Corsi & Topo Gigio for the songwriting and the dress code, Lamb Of God, Death, Megadeth, Terrorizer, All That Remains, Vio-lence, Rammstein, Mass Execution div., Spiritbox, Children Of Bodom, and so on... We consider both the Old School Scene as well as the New School Scene.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
BDS (an Italian expression to say: "spitting blood", see answer 4), but speaking seriously, especially at the start, we spent some cash to produce the EPs merch (t-shirt, CDs, etc...) regardless the huge amount of hours spent into recording and producing the EP and rehearsing with 40 Celsius degrees out the rehearsal room.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
We've done some live shows during this year and probably all of 'em were memorable. Surely, our ideal concert would be something like the ones we have done before, with the power of people in front of us singing our songs, dressing our t-shirts and asking for new releases. Naturally, with a little bit of Alchool and Bitches everything is bussin'.
What attributes do you think that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
First of all, don't focus only on the old school attitude, but take it to make songs much more powerful and memorable. Additionally nowadays, it is also important to take inspiration from other genres and incorporate them into your style so that it fits much better, with some sparkling technique and melodies (e,g Kreator in Enemy Of God or Testament in The Ritual).
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Absolutely yes, because in this time, to be known worldwide you need to be on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, etc... In this way, people around the world could hear your music and compositions. The best way to bring people into your audience is surely be on the web but also consider to make merch, so that people are attracted even more to your overall style.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Italy (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Unfortunately, Metal clubs (especially in south Italy) are only a few left now as well as webzines and fanzines. Anyway, recently, we noticed more and more metal bands coming out, including us, and there are more live gigs in which to play. People seem to be more interested about metal music and live sessions and more metal bands are gaining success like Awaken The Night, Duskvoid, Liquid Rot, etc...
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We know Rotting Christ, Septicflesh and Macabre Omen, great metal bands!
What are your future plans?
We are working on a new EP to publish. Following that, we will search for a label that can produce our first album formally. Meanwhile, we are planning some live performances for 2025.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you for being interested in us; we really liked the questions you proposed. Hoping you will appreciate our answers, we hope to play some day in Greece and we are waiting you to publish this interview on your website! Horns up from Italy🤘
