Interview with RUYNED

!!!BLACK THRASH METAL FROM ROMANIA!!!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about RUYNED (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hi! We are very happy to be doing this interview! Ruyned started on the 19th of March 2023 and we initially stated out as a 4 piece, Bogdan Mateescu (lead guitar and vocals), Olescher Tiberiu (bass), Mihai Marinescu (drums) and Andrei Crisan (guitar). But in August 2024 we became a 3 piece after Andrei left the band.

You have recently released your album ''Eternal Torment''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
The album was very well received by everyone, the tour promoting the album is going well.

Label or DIY and why?
DIY because we are still in school and we need to balance both the band and our education. The CDs for the album were made in a professional CD factory and the merch was also made at a shirt factory.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
A funny story was when our drummer took a break while recording and fell asleep, we had to go into the room where the drums were to wake him up because he was unfazed when we called out to him.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We prefer all types of physical music because we like supporting the bands we like.

Your music style is Black/Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Every member has different influences:

Bogdan: Bütcher, Hellripper, Cruel Force, Sabbat, Midnight, Kreator, Bathory.

Tibi: Dying fetus, Mortician, Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Butcher, Hellripper

Mihai: Sarcofago, Discharge, Slayer, Dream Theatre, Bütcher, Suicidal Tendencies, G.I.S.M

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
We think that you need to invest a lot of time. We have sacrificed our personal time for band practices or for recording sessions and going to a gig. But in the end we do not see it as a sacrifice because we do this for fun.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Our ideal show consists of us having an energetic performance, some stage props and an active audience. We don't want to say we have already achieved our best live performance yet because we like to improve with each concert.

What attributes do you think that a new Black/Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
We think that bands should just write music and at some point they will gain their own unique traits. That's how we do it, we just write music that we like and this is how we came up with our sound.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black/Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
We believe that bands should promote themselves on every platform they can because this is how people will find out about your band.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Romania (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
In the past few years the Romanian underground metal scene has been growing a lot. We have a lot of different bands that play different subgenres, we have punk bands, osdm bands, black and speed metal bands. We don't have that many fanzines except for Moroii, Paginile din Cripta etc. The most important metal club in Romania is Quantic and we have played there a couple of times. All the great bands that have a tour generally play in Quantic because it's really good.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We are fans of some bands from the Hellenic metal scene like Necromantia, Raw Poison, Bio-Cancer, Flames.

In the last 4 years, worldwide in the world, we have faced many dark, strange, and new situations in our everyday lives (covid, lockdown, etc.). Did all of this affect you positively or negatively?
All of us have been influenced positively by the lockdown that happened during the pandemic because we were able to play our instruments more and we progressed a lot as musicians before actual starting the band which helped us a lot.

What are your future plans?
We have started working on our second album. We have been playing all these new songs at our shows in the "Eternal TOUrment" tour. We hope to release the album by the end of 2025. And soon we will announce a tour outside of the European continent.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Stay metal and death to posers.

By Steve the Filthy Dog.
