!!!SATANIC SPEED METAL FROM THE USA!!!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Hails! Thank you.
Tell us a few things about SATANIC MAGICK (Members, Starting Year etc).
Satanic Magick was originally conceived by R (drums) in the winter of ’22, joining forces with N (vox/guitar) to write the songs that would form our EP. L (bass) joined about a year later to complete the golden triangle, and we began to perform our live ritual. All three of us are lifelong musicians and Satanist freaks, together we make a formidable trio.
You have recently released your EP ''Satanic Magick''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
The reception has been great. We were hit up by small labels right away to put it out on tape and then CD. There is a thirst for old school metal in the scene and amongst the young bloods, we’re here to deliver!
Label or DIY and why?
Whatever is best for spreading Satanic Magick worldwide! We’re ready to play a DIY generator show, and we’re ready to play a stadium! We are in the midst of writing a new full-length, and we’re open to signing with the right label. We’re no stranger to making deals with the Devil.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
Two of the tracks from the EP were recorded in a professional studio, and the rest of them were recorded in our practice space. N is a recording genius, and was able to engineer and mix all the tracks to sound exactly the same! Satanic mischief seems to follow us around everywhere, but that’s hardly surprising. Our first show was to a full house and featured go-go dancers and barbed wire bar wrestling. One of our last shows was in a packed illegal basement venue, the ceiling 6 inches from our heads. A fight broke out during someone else’s set, and one of our girlfriends got stabbed by a wayward gauntlet. It’s always a good time at a Satanic Magick show!
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Physical is always best. We already put out a tape and a cd, we would love to put our full length out on vinyl. The best part of an album is being able to hold it in your hands, and looking through all the weird art and hidden details of the inserts. That’s a big part of the experience that is gone and missing these days.
Your music style is Black/Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
We love the old school shit, first wave. Possessed, Venom, Mercyful Fate, Bathory, Acid, old Slayer. Fast riffs and even faster drums, you gotta have some real chops in there. Real evil comes from true knowledge of the Devil’s Chord.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
Human sacrifice is ideal. We’re also accepting applicants to join our Satanic cult. Either way, blood is required. That and literally 100 years of combined experience doing this. We spend our life at the studio, at the bar, and at metal shows. That’s it!
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Kind of like that infamous Gorgoroth show with the crucified models, except sleazier and sexier, and it’s actually the classic Motorhead lineup playing, with some black magick mixed in there. That’s the vibe we bring. Also we would love to play in a church, or even better, a cathedral.

What attributes do you think that a new Black/Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
We could tell you, but then we would have to kill you.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black/Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
The internet does make it easier to get the band’s message out, but the ease and mundanity of social media has really killed the magic and quality of new music. We need to get back to analog. Physical show flyers are the best, every wall should be covered with them.
Do you see any differences between the US Metal Market & the EU Metal Market (Labels, Bands, Fans etc)?
The European audience always seemed to be more excited about metal, and treat bands better, than we do here in the US. As much as we love touring on home turf, we are looking to get over to Europe more!
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in New York, USA (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
There are less DIY venues now, and we lost our main heavy metal bar, but the underground metal and punk scenes are thriving and very active in NYC. There’s no divide between the metalheads and the crust punks, which makes for some great fuckin’ bands! Some of our favorites are Melissa, Manat, Heretic Bodyhammer, and Ruin Lust.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We know about a handful of bands like Dead Congregation, Burial Hordes, Rotting Christ and Varathron. We hear there’s a great scene, we’d love to visit and find out more! Up the Hammers Fest looks sick!
In the last 4 years, worldwide in the world, we have faced many dark, strange, and new situations in our everyday lives (covid, lockdown, etc.). Did all of this affect you positively or negatively?
Sure there were some challenges and difficulties, but Satanic Magick the band was born out of all that, so it had that positive effect.
What are your future plans?
We are currently writing and recording a new album, which will come out in the Summer of 2025.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Fuck religion, fuck all governments, and fuck the police. Satanic Magick for life!
By Steve the Filthy Dog.
