We had a conversation with WINGS OF DECAY. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
1. Tell us a few things about WINGS OF DECAY (Members, Starting Year etc).

We are actually 5 members : Paul and Flavio (guitars), Renaud (bass), Tony (Lead vocals), Thomas (drums). Flavio is a new member but Wings of Decay started in 2017. We are all 80’s music lovers that’s what brought us together.

2. In 2019 you have released your album ''Crossroads''. What was the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?

The feedback was surprisingly good on both sides (Press and audience) and this is very touching. We are feeling really lucky and grateful and will keep on creating new music ! Thanks to that, we have more and more opportunities to play good lives and it's very encouraging.

3. Label or DIY and why?

For now DIY because we wish to go step by step and fully control what’s happening. We have experienced labels in the past and probably will again one day or an other !4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

Any way to listen to music is good haha, but we’d say CD and Vinyl because we are kind of old-school.

5. Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

Yes and we are leading to a more “Hard 'n Heavy’’ kind of music as we noticed it fits better all the members of our band. We are influenced by bands like Firehouse, Def Leppard, Mötley Crue, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Scorpions, White Lion... and so many others from this era !6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

In most cases, we’d say that its like for any project in general, you have to put your body and soul to it and devote the maximum of your personal time to reach your goals. We all sacrificed different life projects or some other dream to focus on this band. But you know, this is our common goal : to travel and play all around the world !

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

Our ideal show… well it's simple : playing with a crow who knows the lyrics and sing our music with us, reach a full connection with the audience ! We had such an experience for some times and it’s really awesome !8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

Well, attitude, original concept and music, perform good live shows, stay tuned with what other bands do but always remain true to yourself and keep it simple and humble.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Bandcamp can help make your music accessible to anyone in the world, which is great. In our case, we don’t use it so much, for now at least !

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in France (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

We’re not really into it because it is kind of difficult for us to play alongside extreme metal bands since doors here are hardly accessible ! But we are definitely opened to perform there !11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
