CAMOS is a Brazilian metal band hailing from Curitiba, Paraná. They have been active since 2000, and they have released a few demos and one EP.In 2009 they released their first full-length studio, ''Kaim 666,'' via the legendary record label Cogumelo Records. Fifteen years have passed. and they are back with their newest second full-length studio album, ''Hide From The Light,'' released via Murder Records on 18/10/2024. The music of CAMOS is blackened heavy metal with a lot of 80s metal elements. The album starts with the same title song ''Hide From The Light.'' Musically, it is a classic heavy metal song ala Ozzy Osbourne's ''I Don't Know'' (especially in the beginning of the guitar riff) with a beautiful guitar solo in the middle and with very strong vocals. In the continue we hear ''Desert Devil.'' A doomy song with an evil atmosphere, ala Mercyful Fate, with technical guitar solos. The third song of the album is ''Run To Kill.'' Fast and heavy song with awesome distorted bass lines and with a great refrain that will stick in your mind. Especially the bass is fucking great here. Well...the song is written by Ulysses Freire. So the bass line is the leader of the song. Great!! The fourth song is ''When Love Ends In Blood,'' probably my favorite track of the album! Very sentimental and passionate song with an 80s atmosphere and with beautiful guitar riffing in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne's ''Shot in the Dark''! The lyrics are bloody and gory, like you watch an 80s horror film.''When love ends in blood, the blade of the knife reflects in the night!''! The fifth song is ''Lord Of The Flies,'' a very creepy song with evil and satanic lyrics. Pounding evil metal with a sick atmosphere and mad vocal parts by Sucoth Benoth. The sixth song is ''The Devil's Concubine,'' a hard 'n' heavy metal song straight from the glorious 80s metal. Imagine a mysterious atmosphere, somewhere in the night, looking hypnotized at the sexy and wild women under the neon lights from the closed stores, then the soundtrack of this picture will be ''The Devil's Concubine.''. The seventh song is ''Waiting Your Command.'' A very creative and progressive song with many metal genres inside of it. This means that the band members are very well skilled, and they mixed all these genres excellently. The song starts very powerfully with a great riff ala Yngwie Malmsteen, together with crazy drumming by Cj Dubiella. Fast double bass drumming with hellish blast beats together with black metal riffing creates a multi-sounding song. In the middle, the song turned into a classic progressive metal with a lot of complicated guitar solos and with excellent keyboard work. Great, I really like this mix!! The eighth song is ''Riding to Hell,'' a very heavy, doomy song with evil vocal parts by Sucoth Benoth and with a very melodic guitar solo. The ninth song is ''Hopeless.'' This track is the slow (ballad) song of the album (I have many years to hear a ballad in an album!). Very passionate song with a melancholic atmosphere and with great lyrics, by the way! The last song of the album is ''Swimming With The Sharks,'' another atmospheric song with catchy riffs and a great refrain!Classic hard 'n' heavy metal straight from the 80s! The production is heavy, clear, and solidly recorded, produced, and mixed by Aly Fioren at Fundshouse Curitiba-PR, Brazil. between March 2023 and March 2024. Also, I should mention here that the album has 2 special guests. Aly Fioren on guitar and keyboards & Tenebrae Aarseth on backing vocals. ''Hide From The Light'' album released on CD and cassette. The CD version is a limited edition of 300 copies.It comes in a 12-page booklet with lyrics, credits, and photos. And for the cassette lovers, it is released in 100 hand-numbered copies in 2 editions: (When you open it, you can see an inverted cross! Very gimmicky and special layout!! Great idea!!50 copies with black cassettes printed in white & 50 cassettes with red cassettes printed in black. Also, Murder Records has a special edition called ''HELLPACK'' in a very limited edition of 15 copies only. This ''HELLPACK'' contains a CD, a red cassette edition, and a silver pentagram with a chain!! I'm very proud of this because I'm an owner of this ''HELLPACK'' thanks to Danihell Slaughter from Murder Records, which he is doing a perfect and professional work! I have spent a really great time with the album of CAMOS. It has a special atmosphere, evil & dark, mixed with an 80s classic heavy metal sound.bringing a nostalgia! Ideal for fans of OZZY OSBOURNE, MERCYFUL FATE, ALICE COOPER, and more...
