SATAN'S SIGH is a Brazilian band hailing from Rio de Janeiro, carrying the flag of raw, old-school black/death metal that echoes the genre’s roots. Since their formation in 2023, they’ve been relentlessly carving their path with a grim, no-nonsense sound. Their debut demo, ''DEMO I'', released in the same year, immediately establishes their signature style—blending aggressive guitar riffs, a relentless bass, thunderous drums, and visceral, hellish vocals.We also had the privilege of interviewing Black Sin and Damnation (Vocals/Guitars), and you can read that fascinating conversation HERE. On January 10, 2025, ''Impaled Nazareno'' was released in a limited cassette edition of only 100 copies through the mighty Murder Records, in collaboration with Auditive Cut Records and Subterrâneo Maldito Records. Thanks to Danihell Slaughter (Hail, my necro-brother!), I’m proud to say I’m a proud owner of this gem!SATAN'S SIGH is a killer trio made up of seasoned members from other prominent Brazilian bands. Vitor Giovanni handles bass, Sόrtόr Impurus is on drums, and Black Sin and Damnation takes care of vocals and guitars. Together, they craft a sound that’s abrasive, commanding, and downright destructive. The bass is distorted and heavy, providing a perfect foundation for the relentless guitar solos and riffs. The drums pound with an intensity that feels like a dark force bulldozing through the tracks. Black Sin and Damnation’s vocals are raw, guttural, and packed with nihilistic energy, perfectly capturing the band’s apocalyptic themes. Their debut album, ''Impaled Nazareno'', features powerful tracks like "Eternal Evil," "Cold Dark," "Maldita Herança" (my personal favorite), and the title track, "Impaled Nazareno." It’s a masterclass in old-school black/death metal, paying homage to legends like VULCANO, early SEPULTURA, MYSTIFIER, MORTEM, CELTIC FROST, SLAYER, SADISTIC INTENT, and more. If you’re expecting trendy, polished death metal or melancholic Norwegian black metal, you’ve come to the wrong place. What you get here is pure, unadulterated old-school death/black metal played with the utmost respect for the true, evil necro sound that the pioneers laid down.
The album’s cover artwork, created by Tatiana T. Bellini, is a perfect visual companion to the music, and the final layout for the cassette edition was done by Alemao and Danihell Slaughter. The J-card is packed with lyrics, photos, and killer blasphemic images. Long live the underground!
